  • The Nominative Case 2

Welcome back to another post on nominative case. This is part two. For part one, click on the Archives link and it should be there somewhere.

Please read that post before reading this one, as that one gives a good introduction to the nominative and includes some key elements that’ll serve you well going forward.

In part two, we’ll be identifying feminine nouns in Russian. Let’s get started.

Feminine nouns end in:the letter а
    the letter я
    the soft sign ь
In some dictionaries, feminine nouns, when clarity is needed, will be marked with ж.
    letter акнига
    (book)
    вода
    (water)
    звезда
    (star)
    голова
    (head)
    музыка
    (music)
    letter янеделя
    (week)
    земля
    (Earth)
    soft sign ьпомощь
    (help)
    вещь
    (thing)

That’s a wrap. I’ll see you in the next post, where neuter nouns will be the focus.
