Let’s observe these possessive adjectives in some context:
| Это коробка. This is a box. | Это моя коробка. This is my box. |
| Это планшет. This is a tablet. | Это ваш планшет. This is your tablet. |
| Это дерево. This is a tree. | Это наше дерево. This is our tree. |
| Это брюки. These are pants. | Это твои брюки. These are our pants. |
More examples:
| Это моя жена. Её зовут Мария. This is my wife. Her name is Maria. |
| Денис Сергеевич, это Ваш компьютер? Dennis Sergeevich, is this your computer? |
| Это наши новые диваны. These are our new couches. |

| Possessive adjectives, just like almost everything in Russian, decline in gender, case and number. In this post we’ll just be focusing on the nominative forms. Fortunately, the forms его, её and их never change, regardless of the gender, number and case used. They are exceptions! 🙂 ex. его дом [his home], его речь [his speech], его поле [his field], его часы [his watches], etc. |
Let’s now further clarify things:
These are used to answer the question чей? [whose]. This word also changes according to gender, case and number. In this post, however, we will only be focusing on the nominative case.

| Чей это дом? Whose house is it? | Это наш дом. It’s our house. |
| Чья это одежда? Whose clothing it is? | Это твоя одежда. It’s your clothing. |
| Чьё это окно? Whose window is it? | Это моё окно. It’s my window. |
| Чьи это журналы? Whose magazines are they? | Это ваши журналы. They are your magazines. |
And they can be used as they would in English. Have a look!

Additional examples:
| Наши дома маленькие, но красивые. Our houses are small, but pretty. |
| Их соседи такие шумные люди. Their neighbors are such noisy people. |
| Её шкаф полон дорогой одежды. Her closet is full of expensive clothing. |
| Все его друзья занимаются боксингом. All (of) his friends do boxing. |
